Charlie The Betta Fish
It’s been a while, I know. But I have some wonderful updates!
First off, I’ve moved to the other side of the mantle. It took me a while to get used to the view, but I like it a lot. The guy and the girl have been spending a lot of time on the couch recently, which is good because sometimes I get fed twice. The only odd thing is that I keep hearing chimp and gorilla sounds lately… coming from that box on my left… er, right now. It’s all very strange.
I’ve grown a lot too, I really, really hope I get a new living space when my birthday comes around. It’s getting a little stuff in here with the frogs (who still don’t have much to say) and my wonderful tree. Oh how I love to sleep in that tree. My fins are getting nice and colorful too, thanks to my diet of blood worms. It’s not every day, but it’s certainly more than I used to get them. They’re best crunchy, btw.
To the other side of the mantle. He’s a little disoriented, but he’ll be writing soon about his new perspective on life in the bowl.
Day 146 - Ah, the feeling of a fresh, clean bowl. Seriously chief, it was WAY overdue. And where the heck were you the last couple of weekends? Hmm? The only one around last weekend was Pam (not that I’m complaining about that). Anyway, I don’t have much to report, other than Pam and Bill look pretty goofy playing that Wii thing they keep talking about. They look like little kids pretending to drive all of the time. Sheesh!
Day 127 - What in the blue hell is going on out there? So Pam and Bill (I’ve learned plenty of “Human” since being here) have been jumping around out in the room a lot lately. They’re holding some weirdo white stick in their hands, and there’s this white box near my tank that has this big blue light on it.
I thought they were just watching the TV, but they seem to be playing with it. They keep speaking another version of “Human” too… it’s the word Oui or something. It wouldn’t make sense for them to say “We” this much, would it?
Anyway, it fun to see them out there a lot… it livens up the room to say the least.
Day 105 - It’s been nearly two weeks since I last wrote. The water is cleaner, I’m feeling healthier and it’s been a lot warmer, just like I like it. There’s been a lot of commotion out in the world lately. The female continues to work on the computer a lot, apparently she has a big project to do. The male helps occasionally, but he’s been in the den a lot. I’m not sure what he’s been up to, since I don’t have a proper view of that room.
They’ve also been home a lot, which is nice. I like being able to watch them. Oh! They brought in a ton of food the other day too, which I haven’t seen them do in a while. I supposed they are planning to eat at the house more often, but I’ve thought that before only to see them go out a lot.
And have I mentioned that blueberry muffins smell delicious? I realize I can’t eat them, but WOW do I wish I could try some of that.
Day 92 - A couple of days ago, I don’t know where I ended up… but it was yellow… very very yellow.
Not the water!!! Geez… the room I was put in. All of the humans (there were 4) seemed kind of skittish, like there was some sort of danger around. Sure the weather was bad, but I didn’t think it was awful. Then again I’m insulated here in the water, and I didn’t have a good view of any windows.
Day 76 - Uh, so what’s the deal with the frogs in my bowl? There are four bug-eyed freaks on a toad stool, and they haven’t said a word to me yet, they’re just staring at me.
Day 72 - I’ve decided to play a new game with the humans called “Splash The Human.” Whenever feeding time comes, and the lid on my tank is lifted, I like to do my best Matrix impression, flip around 180 degrees and splash the human feeding me.
Max score is 1000.
Anywhere on the human = 100 points.
Face = 250 points.
Eye = BULLSEYE! 1000 points.
So far I’ve accumulated 1250 points in two rounds, my first ever shot was a bullseye. I’m a natural, what can I say?
Day 62 - The plant has moved, the plant has moved!!!
Evidently the humans decided I need a chance of scenery every now and then. At first, I wasn’t too happy about my plant being moved to one side of the tank, but now, I have to admit the place is better than it used to be. I have more room to roam around, but I can still snuggle up in the plant when I feel like I need a moment or two of rest.
Other than that, the tank is nice and clean again. Not that it was overly dirty, but it’s always nice to have a fresh, clean tank where I can blow a new bubble nest. Oh yeah, and I got bloodworms yesterday… mmm mmm mmm.
Day 49 - Uh, helloooooo it’s getting a little dirty in here.
Life outside has been interesting lately, the two humans have been in my room a lot the last few days. They’ve been watching a bunch of TV, and the female has been on the couch way more than usual. I hope everything is okay. A couple of days ago I went quite a while without any food, and when the large one (male), fed me, I literally attacked my food.
Mmm. I love those Hikari Bio-Gold pellets! It’s the crunchiness that makes them so good. Don’t get me wrong, I like bloodworms too and have fun “hunting” those when I’m treated to them, but on a daily basis I look forward to my Hikari pellets.
In other news, I made the biggest bubblenest yet. A new personal record is always a good thing. I also heard a rumor that I might get a large tank down the road, I’m not holding my breath. Hahahaha.
