Week 2 - New Year’s Resolutions
Week 2 Update
1. Eat right / Exercise more - Kicking some serious butt on this front according to the scale.
2. Clean up the house - I knocked out a couple of very small projects over the weekend, and I replaced the main light bulbs in the house with those fluorescent ones that save money in the long run.
3. Grow ScalpEm.com’s readership - Traffic is remaining higher than normal, and I’ve been nominated for two CFB awards. Pretty sweet.

Things To Do Before I Die
I used to have a list of things that I wanted to do before I die. However, I no longer have that list. I guess I wasn’t so concerned about it, was I? Anyway, here’s a new attempt, which I’ll keep to 10 things for now, in no particular order.
1. Learn to play a musical instrument. (Maybe piano?)
2. Have a media room in my house.
3. Figure out what sushi I like and how to order it.
4. Take some photography classes.
5. Do the TPD Citizens Academy.
6. Take a West Coast trip with my Dad.
7. Be someone’s mentor.
8. Camp in the toaster.
9. Have someone do a full astrology report on me.
10. Write my will. (That one amuses me endlessly.)

Honda Accord Concept
My creativity is a bit low lately and I don’t have a lot to talk about today. However, I did come across the Honda Accord Concept over at Edmunds.com. That is one sweet looking coupe. I might have to consider it if I ever give up my Honda Element.

Your Hard Drive Is Obsolete
So I read an article at MSNBC this morning. SanDisk has introduced 32 Gigabyte solid state drive (basically, a really big version of your USB memory key) and it’s nearly 100 times faster than current drives.

A Little Poetry by Nike
This ad appeared on a Sports Illustrated I once read when I was younger and I thought it was great. I always though Nike should use it in a commercial with different athletes, professional and amateur, young and old saying one line each. Anybody out in Nike land listening?
Too often we are scared.
Scared of what we might not be able to do.
Scared of what people might think if we tried.
We let our fears stand in the way of our hopes.
We say no when we want to say yes.
We sit quietly when we want to scream.
And we shout with the others,
when we should keep our mouths shut.
Why?
After all,
we do only go around once.
There’s really no time to be afraid.
So stop.
Try something you’ve never tried.
Risk it.
Enter a triathlon.
Write a letter to the editor.
Demand a raise.
Call winners at the toughest court.
Throw away your television.
Bicycle across the United States.
Try bobsledding.
Try anything.
Speak out against the designated hitter.
Travel to a country where you don’t speak the language.
Patent something.
Call her.
You have nothing to lose
and everything
everything
everything to gain.
JUST DO IT.

Week 1 - New Year’s Resolutions
Updating my resolutions for the Week 1.
1. Eat right / Exercise more - I did better with my eating habits and I exercised at least 30 minutes each day this past week.
2. Clean up the house - I didn’t make any progress on this yet. I need to get a to do list together this week so that I can knock it out in smaller pieces.
3. Grow ScalpEm.com’s readership - There has been a solid increase in traffic thanks to the Jimbo Fisher saga. Also, I’m testing out some AdBrite ads as a way for advertisers to directly pay me on my site. I’m not sure how well that will go, but it’s worth a shot for a while. Also, the AdSense revenue sharing program has its first member, Troy.
New York Jets & Sports Bill on 07 Jan 2007
Jets Begin Playoff Quest
Well, my New York Jets try to get past the New England Patriots today, in the Wildcard round of the NFL Playoffs. I’ve lost interest in the NFL over the years, since I don’t get very many Jets games in Tallahassee, but the playoff give me the opportunity to watch them, thankfully. The Jets and Pats split the season series, each team winning on the road.
Some interesting Jets links:
Brian Bassett is offer his motivational clips for Head Coach Eric Mangini to use during the playoff run.
JetsLocker has their preview of today’s matchup.
New York Newsday offers a pretty good preview of the game and why Eric Mangini has the best chance to beat a Belichick team.
And of course, there’s the Post, going out on the limb.
Unlike on ScalpEm, I’m making no predictions for the Jets. But, I’ll have my jersey on and be firmly planted in front of the TV for the game.

NASA Contest
NASA is having a contest to pick the best photos from the Mars Rovers; Spirit and Opportunity. The mission is celebrating its third anniversary, after its original intent was to last for a mere 90 days. NASA projects like this one should be pointed out for their fantastic return on investment. It’s too bad that the media continually focuses on the shuttle and its problems. Although, I guess it points out that most people aren’t as interested in space exploration unless it involves humans.
Here are a couple of my favorite pictures from the Rovers:
